About NAMI Cumberland, Harnett & Lee Counties
Welcome to NAMI Cumberland, Harnett and Lee Counties / The area’s Voice on Mental Illness
NAMI Cumberland, Harnett and Lee Counties is a nonprofit, grassroots, self- help, support and advocacy organization of families, friends, caregivers, mental health professionals, and people who live with severe and persistent mental illness such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic and other severe anxiety disorders, autism and pervasive developmental disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and other brain disorders.
We believe no one should have to face mental illness alone. Our group is here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load. We meet the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7 PM in the Cumberland County Mental Health Center Auditorium-109 Bradford Avenue, Fayetteville, NC. The first Tuesday event is an educational meeting where information on brain disorders and current issues relating to care and treatment of mental illness are presented by guest speakers, informative movies, and panel and moderated group discussions. On the third Tuesday, we offer our Connection, a recovery support group for people who live with a brain disorder, as well as our Family Support Group, for family, caregivers, and friends of people who live with brain disorders.
We offer an array of education and training programs and support for both people with brain disorders, as well as family members, providers and the general public. Find the support you need from someone who’s “been there”. Feel free to take a look around our site to learn more about what we do.
